Why We're Supporting Wildflower Meadows on Exmoor

At Hue & Harmony, nature isn’t just an inspiration - it’s part of who we are. From our hexagon-based designs to our soft organic cotton fabrics, we design with the planet in mind.

We are proud to be supporting the 'Sowing the Seeds' project through our donation to 'CareMoor for Exmoor' - a campaign focused on restoring and creating wildflower meadows across Exmoor National Park.

But why does this matter so much to us?

Here are just a few of the reasons:

1. Restoring Lost Habitats

Over 97% of the UK’s wildflower meadows have disappeared since the 1930s. These landscapes once covered large parts of the countryside, bursting with colour, scent, and life. Their loss has left a major gap in the natural balance of our ecosystems.

By supporting the 'Sowing the Seeds' project, we’re helping bring these precious habitats back to life - reintroducing native plant species and allowing nature to take the lead in healing itself.

2. Supporting Biodiversity

Wildflower meadows are biodiversity hotspots. They support hundreds of species, from wild bees and butterflies to beetles, moths, birds, and small mammals. These creatures all play a vital role in keeping our ecosystems healthy - pollinating plants, dispersing seeds, and maintaining the food web.

The more we can do to provide food and shelter for them, the better chance we have at protecting Britain’s natural heritage.

3. Protecting Exmoor’s Beauty

Exmoor holds a special place in our hearts. Its rugged hills, sweeping views, and quiet woodlands are a constant source of inspiration. But it’s not just a pretty place, it’s a living landscape shaped by people, animals, and plants over centuries.

We believe it’s our shared responsibility to look after this beauty. Through this project, we’re contributing to its future, ensuring it remains a haven for wildlife and a peaceful retreat for people.

4. Reversing UK Wildlife Decline

The UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. That fact is difficult to digest, but it’s also a powerful motivator.

Supporting initiatives like 'Sowing the Seeds' means actively working to change that narrative. It’s about creating pockets of hope: areas where wildlife can flourish again, where species can return, and where ecological health can be rebuilt over time.

5. Connecting People with Nature

There’s something magical about walking through a wildflower meadow. The hues, the hum of insects, the movement of petals in the breeze - it reminds us of the simple joy of being outdoors.

We hope that through this project, more people, especially children, will discover that joy, feel closer to nature, and be inspired to care for it.

6. Reflecting Our Brand Values

Hue & Harmony was built on the belief that fashion can be kind - to people, to animals, and to the planet. Sustainability isn’t a trend for us; it’s a part of our foundation.

This project aligns perfectly with our values: protecting wildlife, giving back to nature, supporting local projects, and fostering harmony between humans and the world we live in.
